people have the power = democracy

MattisManzel:
Patti Smith sang that.

Fits nice.

In my dreaming, I was dreaming
of an aspect, bright and fair.

took a while

MattisManzel:
Ok. Got it more or less working (up in my noodles). Took a while.

The soup soup of the world-democracy-wiki is now included into the google - plus page world-democracy-wiki. Other bells and whistles this wiki deserves have already been attached to wikis I recently worked on:

KISS in German

MattisManzel:
What it’s all about is tagging things, language is tagging things. Humans do that differently than dogs do it - the Goethe-style, kinda.
Greenland and Greenland, NH for example
NewHampshire
A sense for globally precise tagging, a global language
kinda
I mean, they specify airports worldwide with three letters, c’mon ;)
“In der Kürze liegt die Würze”. KISS in German.

making air work, twitterlive

MattisManzel:
Sorry for talking so much about technical things here. To achieve democracy you have to talk. Usually acoustic vibration of air is used to transmit information in this process. Air works well, it has major disadvantages though. Short range mainly. We instead use technical magma pretty new to mankind and not so perfectly working yet but global range. Therefore. Talk. Name of this day-page set.

I use twitterlive.net instead of twitterfeed now to transmit our soup into ping.fm and this is simply a test post if that works. Experiments.

twitter - world-democracy-wiki triggered by google feedburner

MattisManzel:
Forwarding the soup of the world-democracy-wiki via ping.fm into multiple web services is currently dysfunctional because of an issue with the connection between twitterfeed and ping.fm. Twitter alone can be triggered from google feedburner for the soup directly and should be updating again.

doocracy II

MattisManzel:
Lemme point out again - as I already tried in 2009-07 - that associated services of the world-democracy-wiki are “undoocratic”. Instead of everybody (with a bit of time and passion) being able to change everything only I - having admin rights for certain associated (but still) ego centered services like twitter etc. - can change settings for the friends a wiki has, the groups it belongs to …
That is not the idea. It’s just what currently works best. :)

Take a look at whoisi - world-democracy-wiki [[whoisi_-_world-democracy-wiki?]], please. Everybody can change feeds, you have to fill in a captcha. It’s a tiny little bit to do. You can even spam. But removing the spam is less work than placing it. That’s the idea.

whoisi doesn’t provide any feeds though.

zeus on #oddmuse already tried on a captcha solution when I experimented with socnodes. Very much the right direction, thanks.

global democrats

MattisManzel:
There’s some new stuff in the world-democracy-wiki, like all kind of µblogging messages (short “Mµs”) included into the SideBar and such, you know what I mean. Anyhow. Cu later, global democrats. ;)

MattisManzel:
I’m experimenting with socnodes. The soup of the world-democracy-wiki goes into

http://socnode2.appspot.com/

At least the second step, the soup.io - world-democracy-wiki via feedburner (setting ping shot activated) into socnodes should go in real time. Let’s see.

Democracy is a method of nonviolence

It is true that democratic freedom is an engine of national and individual wealth and prosperity? Hardly known, however, is that freedom also saves millions of lives from famine, disease, war, collective violence, and democide (genocide and mass murder). That is, the more freedom, the greater the human security and the less the violence. Conversely, the more power governments have, the more human insecurity and violence.

MattisManzel:
Aloha R. J. Rummel, you honor the world-democracy-wiki with your post. Thanks. I moved it from the web-site list to the talk where for now it rather belongs.

Probably one could even extend your thoughts to software? The less equal a software treats its users or the wider the gap between administrators and users of a software is the more reckless and violent users will behave. It’s what comes to my mind.

“what followers of the wiki are interested in” as a tag cloud

MattisManzel:
Check out the tag cloud on http://identi.ca/worlddemocracy/subscriptions. This is a common cloud of how followers of the world democracy-wiki tagged themselves. It changes as people follow / unfollow the wiki. You see what followers are interested in.
There’s a tag cloud module for Oddmuse, currently not installed. I wonder if one could insert the cloud from [[identi.ca_-_world-democracy-wiki?]] into the side-bar. Best aggregating all µblogging services, sure, but that’s a second step, I suppose :)

much less frightening looking urls for feeds

MattisManzel:
The feeds for the day-page-sets do now get “pre-burned” by google feedburner before going into the soup. Advantage: much less frightening looking urls, the soup seems to update more reliable. Disadvantage: updates probably have a bit more delay. I’m still guessing, the feedburner-detour is rather new.

This wikis output for the talk-feed currently hangs. Thus I can’t create the feedburner page for it. The feeds for the other day-page-sets work.

follow, follow not, follow, follow not, …

MattisManzel:
The base of democracy are equal rights to all. With masters and slaves democracy won’t come. Permitting equal rights to all in the sphere that the world-democracy-wiki resides in - the world wide web - is currently not possible (yet). In order to protect and maintain an open online collaboration platform like this wiki you have to restrict the access to certain pages to administrators. The Oddmuse software does this as reduced as possible, it’s minimal admin profile and best suited. I made it the centerpiece of the wiki-net. Recently I have been additionally playing around with many web-services that while interacting fine with Oddmuse do themselves not give equal rights as much as possible to as many as possible. Twitter, identi.ca, facebook and other services in use in the wiki-net are not intended to be governed by teams - wiki is, but the others are not. Only one single person decides whom to follow and who to ignore. Only one person can change the entire site. Everybody in the contrary can (almost) entirely change every wiki in the wiki-net. That’s where democracy might grow. On something that belongs to everybody and that everybody is responsible for.

So, [[identi.ca_-_world-democracy-wiki?]] automatically follows every follower (I activated that). I can manually follow followers on twitter - world-democracy-wiki, same with facebook - world-democracy-wiki. I do follow / I do not remove followers that feel alright to me. I’m aware that this is n_o_t democratic but currently it’s the best solution. I do not follow / I remove spammers, obvious jerks, people with protected updates (this is transparent only here) and people without any messages sent. I’m not sure I can keep an eye on all wikis in the wiki-net. Drop a line in the talk or send a Mµ @TheRespectiveWiki when you think someone should be followed or removed and I’ll see what I can do. Thanks.

How could we collectively decide upon that without falling prey to spammers and obvious jerks? In a democratic way. Or would it rather turn out to be in the DoOcracy? way? ;)

Hm. Via follow and unfollow the twitter account of the wiki can be triggered - as far as I remember. What if we opened that up to the public, maybe not to everybody but to people having a homepage in the wiki. A homepage with two edits by somebody else than the owner if it should get tough. At least a captcha should be in it. Hm.
